Top of the mountain

Sunday a day of rest. Enjoyed the morning paper then went to Stella Blues for breakfast. Nice place with good breakfast. We didn't have a plan so we decided to go to the top of the Mountain. Haleakala. It's a fun trip up the mountain. You start at sea level and go up to 10,000 feet. The road twist and turns up the hill. The trip isn't really too bad as the road is quite good. You even get a certificate of achievement when you get there. We had to wear coats as it was cold up there.

Once at the top you get a good view into the crater. Unfortunately for us the were a lot of clouds so the other islands were not visible. Too bad as you can see for ever on a good. I did get a bit of a picture of the snow on Mauna Kea on the big island. It's hard to see, but the white area above the cloud is the snow on Mauna Kea.

After a nice drive up it was a coast back down. Got back home and watched the Packers loose. All in all another good day. Here are some pictures of the crater. What looks like steam was only clouds.
