Hello from Nevada

Hello again. We are currently in Laughlin, Nevada. So far this trip we have been hitting all the nice RV parks. Thursday night we spent at the Bakersfield RV Park. This park was just one year old. Besides a beautiful club house and pool they had an excellent restaurant. Their pool was a nice balmy 80 degrees. We did our sit in the sun and read a book thing. Charlie enjoyed his stay.

The drive from Bakersfield was about 300 miles. My butt is getting lots of seat time. We have put in 1409 miles so far. The best part is diesel fuel has dropped to $2.89. We have found that Charlie is learning more words. As we are driving down the road and see a rest area we have to wait until we are almost there as when we say"Rest Area" he starts to go nuts. "Pet Area" really does him in. He starts jumping up and down and whining. He really likes the out of doors. When we get underway again Charlie does what he does best. He is always exhausted.

Here is a picture of the country side on the trip across the Mojave desert. Not much out there.

We arrived in Laughlin about 3PM to the Riverside Resort and RV Park. This is the third time we have been here. They have LOTS of spaces and most of them are full. All the other places we stayed it was $35 to $40 bucks a night. They all had really nice pools one even had golf, but this place is a rather plan parking place for $30 a night with no pool and they even want $8.95 a night to connect to the Internet. The view is pretty however.

We went to the casino last night. My $42 got reduced to $32 and Sue’s $27 has been reduced to $22. So far we are still ahead of the game. We had a pizza at the Boiler Room. They had their own beer there as well. The casino was designed like a river boat. It was a long walk there and Sue god a blister on her foot so we took a taxi back. Today it looks like a rest and cleaning day. Tonight we are going to see the "Riders in the Sky" They are an old time country singing group with a lot of comedy thrown in. I put up a picture next time I blog. They say you can take pictures.

After we got home we rested and Charlie rested as well.

Another day at the Lakes

Well we spent another day at the Lakes. This is really a nice place. The golf course is good, except it is a bit long for us. They have four holes in a row on the back side that are all 420 or so long. Guess what, bogies are really good. Kinds of reminds me of Ocotillo in Chandler, Arizona. I always say that place has 27 holes and there is water on 78 of them. Well this place is sort of like that. There is water on lots of holes. Both places are built in the middle of now where. All the water in the lakes is reclaimed. The more houses the more water to reclaim. There were some fairways that were below the level of the lakes. This house was surrounded by water. And the lake is above the fairway.

We played with a couple guys from "Fish Camp" California. Ray owned the local general store and John was a retired Doctor from LA. Fish Camp is just a bit from the entranced to Yosemite National Park. Ray said that there only about 60 residents of the town. But the tourist traffic is tremendous. They were a couple cool guys. We had a great time with them. Ray has a problem I would like to have, getting use to retirement. Ray is on the left and Dr. John (also retired) is on the right.

Got back to the motor home and went to the pool and hot tub again. Turned out the golf cart only cost $26 bucks. A night at the RV park golf for two and a cart. $61 bucks. We could stay here for a long time. Pushed the spell checker and "here for" came out "Hereford". I caught that one

We will be out of here tomorrow on our way to Bakersfield. We heard about another place called Bakersfield RV Resort. Suppose to be new. We will see. We will stay there for a night and then head to Laughlin for a little entertainment and most likely a bit of gambling. Then on to Surprise and Happy Trails. PIR here we come.

Should be Charlie's blog

As usual the dog gets the headlines. He got to know all the other dogs in the Darango RV park before we left. They even had a dog wash. He saw his beauty parlor Friday so he was already clean. As you can see he rules the ship underway. No effort at all.

I asked the folks at Durango today where there was a nice park further south. They suggested The Lakes Golf and RV Resort. Well they were right. This place is beautiful. It's in Chowchilla, California. Lots of nice homes with a golf course and a great RV resort. This a parting shot of Darango RV. We will return.

Our new digs are at Lakes RV and Golf Resort, at the sugestion of Drango. We are parked about 100 feet from the club house and the pool/hot tub. A short walk to the dog walk and just a little farther to the golf course. I get go walk over tomorrow, pick up the golf cart and away we go. Cost is $45/night including golf for two. Cart is $32 bucks extra. Not a bad deal. Will report on the golf course tomorrow.

As it stand tonight we are most likely going to stay here for a couple days. Have put in 950 miles since Saturday morning, including a little of our back and forth. That cost about 60 miles. It will be fun to sit for and extra day. Most likely next up is Bakersfield. If the golf course is nice we could play it again on Wednesday before we leave. We will see. Captain is getting a tired butt.

So far the satellite still doesn't work and the cab air fan had a blown breaker. But it popped again so I guess that will be on the spring repair list. Who knows. We are all settled in watching dancing wit the stars. Charlie is exhausted as usual. Only 11 months old and all he does is sleep. Maybe he is the smartest.

While we were at the pool Egor the pool cleaner kept trying to attact us. We got away and the pool was clean.

We are all settled in now and Sue is makng Patato salad for tomarrow. Talk to you all tomarrow or so.

A bit of backand forth

We enjoyed our stay at 7 Feathers. They have a BIG casino on the east side of the freeway and a fuel stop and A really nice RV park on the west side. We didn't use their pool or hot tub, but Carlie took advantage of the enclosed dog walk. We even got a free Sunday paper this morning, We left abut 9:30 and headed south. This is the trip thru the Syscuies. We went up and down, then down and up. I know lots of you know the drive.

Charlie enjoyed the trip. He is settling down to the long days of travel. His new words are "Rest area" and "Pet area" We just drove south in to California. Had a junk food lunch at Rest stop. We were headed to a place called Parkway RV where we stayed a couple years ago. We were driving down the road and I say this new place called Durango RV Resort. But we kept going. The parkway was like last time. We were new then to the travel life. Uug....We drove back up the highway to the New Place. I wish I had steped on the brake earlier. I would recommend this place to everyone. (Remember, click on the Blue stuff and you go to the link)

We got parked and Charlie and Sue went off for a walk. Then we went to their pool and hot tub. Charlie guarded the homestead. They have a great club house with a big screen TV. This place has only been open two months. Full service including cable and wi fi. The other place had nothing and wanted about the same money. We need to look out farther a bit. Steve Cox has been mentioning a call ahead is a good idea.

Anyway we are sitting here watching TV. My satellite does not seem to work right so I think I will call Dishnetworks and say good by. That's another story.

Tomorrow well be heading further south. Was planning on a place on the Sacramento Delta, but I'm not sure. Might be looking in a different direction. Just know that we will be in Laughlin Wednesday or Thursday. Then Surprise on Saturday Already have heard from some friends down there. Looks like Jimmy Johnson is headed for a third NASCAR championship.

Off and running

Every thing went well this morning as we got off to our latest adventure. It is always so pretty in the fall with the leaves turning. Snuffy was ready to go.

We cruised down I-5 and stoped in Woodlawn for some fuel we hoped (no diesel) and a Mc Donald lunch. Sue went for food and I heard this alarm go off. Seemed that the power cable form the motor home to the car was not working right. This cut the Remco pump that keeps the transmission on her car working. The cable I had used was an old one that I had drug on the ground a couple years ago and fixed. Opps. Good thing I had a new one. (Red cord) Plugged it in and all was well.

So off we went again and ended up at Seven Feathers Casino in the south of Oregon about 360 miles from home.
Charlie enjoyed the trip. Rode on the dash some of the way. He didn't get his morning nap so he was a bit confused. Slept on the couch, the bed, Sue's lap and a few other places.

Got this picture of him from outside. Anyway we got in and rested a bit.

Sue took Charlie for a walk then we went to the casino. Sue didn't want to leave.

We both started with $20.00. I came home with 42 and Sue came home with 28. Save our winnings to Laughlin.

Time is getting short.

10 more days to go. Then everybody gets to start enjoying "Joe Isims" again. Charlie is getting ready. I'm sure he is looking forward to his perch in Snuffy (the Motor Home). I caught him looking outside at the cold this morning.

As fitting start we began and ended with the Avocado Plants last year. There was Avo and Coda and their offspring Guacamole. Guacamole was still a seed. He made it for a while but now it appears his growth is stunted. His parents need water.

Our plans are to leave either Friday afternoon of Saturday morning 24/25. Plan on taking about nine days to get to Phoenix. The races are November 7,8 and 9. We are both looking forward to our yearly NASCAR fix at Phoenix International Raceway better known as PIR.

Looks like we will be going down I-5 as the weather inland is getting bad. Our friend Steve Cox (Link to his blog is on this page) got stuck in snow in Nevada. He headed to Death Valley to get warm. We get to see our friends Larry and Jane from Maui. They will be in Arizona when we are there. Never see them in Seattle. Go figure. Anyway will I will be getting in the posting mode soon. Till then let the sun shine.
