Today was a really sad day

The day started out like most days down here. Weather was warm and all that stuff. In the back of our minds was our friend Ken Bailey back home, When we left last October he was having problems with his stomach. We left on the 20th of October and Ken and Elain were to be about a week behind. Us to Phoenix and them to Indio. When we got down here we got a call that Ken had a Cancer in his stomach. Now Ken is a really tough old fart. He has not been able to see his golf ball for a couple of years, but could still out shoot most of us. We always wanted to putt like the blind guy. But this report was not so good.

We have spent a lot of time with Ken and Elain in the last few years. They have become one of our best friends. Charlie was always welcome at their homes. Federal Way and Indio. He has been one of my best golf friends. Saturday with Ken , Ralph, Al and me was the best.

Sue and I also spent a lot of time with Ken and Elaine across the state in some of the various golf club Chapmans. It was always our goal to beat them. We did this last year, but I would sure like to be able to loose to them next year. I'm still catching hell because Ken felt Charlie was getting cooked in the motor home without the air conditioning being turned on at Moses Lake last year. Ken gave me a saluted from behind the money he had to give me at Moses.

In our travels with them we shared many meals. Some inside but a lot outside. The days golf would be discussed as well as all our traveling. Ken was a good counselor of where to go and stay as he and Elaine had been most everyplace across the country. Ken always said "we were there"

Today we lost Ken to cancer. He fought it as best he could, but this time he did not win. He will be greatly missed not only by Sue and I, but all his friends at Twin Lakes in Federal way and his friends at Heritage Palms in Indio, California. God bless Ken. Get those greens ready up there in heaven and keep the tempature just right for Charlie.
